# Digimon World 2 Online > An online version of Digimon World 2 (PlayStation, 2000), built on the game's own code: accounts, a shared Digital City, domain runs from domain items, loot, a player market, and a server that runs the game rules for every player. Pre-alpha. Windows and Linux. Status as of 2026-10-20: There is no public server. There is no download. There is no release date. Everything listed under "Working now" is built and tested in the dev build, not public. ## How it plays - Meet in the Main Gate: Your tamer walks Digital City with everyone on your channel. Chat, add friends, open profile cards. - Pick a domain item: Carol opens the Domain Connector. Each domain item has a theme, a level, a rarity and affixes. A few level 1 domains are always open. - Run the domain: Floors are built for your run. Enemy parties and the boss match the domain level. Battles keep the original turn rules. - Take the loot: Battles, chests and the boss drop items, Digi-Beetle parts with random mods, and new domain items. The server rolls every drop. - Gear up and trade: Back in the city: equip parts on your Digi-Beetle, salvage the rest, and trade on the Digi Exchange. Then pick a harder domain. ## Online rules - One tamer per account: Your partner, Digimon, items and bits live on the server, never in a local save. - The server decides: It runs the game rules for every player, in step with the client: battles, drops and rolls happen there. - Domain levels: Every domain is open at every level. Higher levels mean more floors, stronger parties and better loot. - Ironman: An Ironman tamer plays the same loop alone: no trades and no market. ## Working now (dev build) ### Digital City is shared Log in, make a tamer and walk the Main Gate with everyone else on your channel. Name tags show each tamer and their level. - Accounts and tamers: Register, log in, pick a partner (Agumon, Patamon or DemiDevimon), a Guard Team and one of 35 looks. - Other players: Everyone on your channel walks with you; up to 49 other tamers drawn at once, each in their own look. - Chat: Local, Global and Guard Team chat, whispers, speech bubbles over the tamers. - Friends and profiles: Friend list with live places, profile cards, profile pictures, tamer level and EXP. - Achievements: 104 achievements, checked by the server, shown on the profile card. ### Domain runs from domain items Carol at the Main Gate opens the Domain Connector. Pick a domain item, and the run starts: floors made for that run, parties and a boss by its level. - Domain Connector: Your domain items in one list with level, rarity, affixes and a radar of a sample floor. - Generated floors: Rooms, corridors and a boss wing built for each run; more floors at higher levels. - Generated parties: Enemy parties and bosses of the theme, scaled by the domain level, with real retail skills. - Domain affixes: More traps, stronger parties, extra floors and more, as rules the run follows. - Glitched domains: A rare drop: the run is the boss floor only, with 25 % more loot and EXP. ### Drops with extra effects Battles, chests and bosses drop items and Digi-Beetle parts. Parts come as Basic, Common or Rare with random mods, rolled by the server. - Battle loot and run summary: A loot window after each battle and one summary of the whole run at the end. - Part mods: Common parts carry 1 or 2 mods, Rare parts 3 or 4, in tiers by item level. - Rare names: Every Rare part gets its own two-word name. - Digi-Beetle station: Equip parts and see the beetle stats change before you swap. - Salvage: Turn parts you do not need into crafting materials. ### Digi Exchange MasterTyrannomon in the Main Gate runs the market. Players list items for other items, buy from each other and see the price history. - Item exchange: The price is another item and a count; the buyer pays a small tax in bits. - Search and filters: Tabs, seller search, rarity, level and price filters, pages of listings. - Delivery: Sold and bought items arrive in your storage, also while you are away. - Ironman: An Ironman tamer plays alone: no trades and no market buys. ### The server decides The server runs the same game C for each player in step with the client, so it knows every battle, drop and roll. It also keeps the account safe. - Lockstep worker: One headless game per player on the server; a desync restarts from the last checkpoint. - Encrypted connection: TLS 1.3. Passwords stored as Argon2id hashes. Short disconnects resume where you were. - Moderation: Staff ranks, mutes, bans and player reports, from chat commands and the player menu. - Smooth frames: The city, domains and battles drawn at your monitor rate; the game logic stays at 59.94 Hz. - Mouse and keyboard: Full mouse in the new windows, typed amounts and names, shortcut keys. ## Planned (can change) - Public server and a first closed test: No date yet.
